Our Story This Year:

King Henry VII has died, leaving his son Prince Henry of Wales to take the throne of England. This will be the first peaceful transition of power that England has seen in a century, and while the country mourns the old King, they welcome the new wholeheartedly.

Henry is young and impetuous. He seems to be more interested in swordplay or playing tennys with his friends then running the kingdom. That he leaves to his ministers - Cardinal Woolsey and the like. One major problem that he is immediately faced with is who shall he marry? His brother's widow, Katherine of Aragon seems a likely choice, and it seemed that this was the marriage his father wanted - after all, a Papal dispensation had already been granted for the young Prince to marry the Spanish princess Katherine. However, there are other options that must be considered...

Meanwhile, Katherine of Aragon, the Dowager Princess of Wales is constantly being hounded by rude creditors. She has already pawned a lot of her gold plate and jewels; she and her small household have been surviving off of week-old fish! She can only hope that her young former brother-in-law will show her some mercy in allowing her at the very least a stipend to cover her expenses. There is that dispensation though... Could she dream that this man, five years her junior, be possibly interested in marrying her?

Is a Royal Wedding and Joint Coronation in the midst? Come see the drama and intrigue play out at the 32nd annual Hanford Renaissance of King Cultural Arts Faire!
